Moved.

To a location with bigger photos.

The Old Ones.

I just spent a while looking through my old blog, browsing through my older entries from years back. It's amazing how much I used to reveal on such a public forum (although I did lock my diary), and how much I've changed since.

I was looking at what I wrote years back, and it felt like I was reading about another person's life altogether.

anticipation

OooOhhh I'm excited! ...

... and a whole week of MAD RIDING. Oh Please let there be Snow!

PS I Love You

What a better way to spend a Saturday Afternoon than to cosy up with a ice cold glass of water and a huge tissue box.

It's so sad, yet so sweet at the same time. (with a happy ending to boot!)

I love it.

Really?

Serena almost always looks amazing in whatever she wears.

But, ... really?

Her dress looks like it's been ripped.

The Wonders of Make-up

Take a look at this.

It's amazing what make-up can do.

DONE!! DONE DIDDY DONE DONE DONE.

So happy to be done with the exams, cuz now, it's time to PARTAE!

It's time for my favourite time of the year, and many many things to look forward to.

But, just to commemorate the last month spent mugging in school (I don't think I've ever studied so hard in my life, as I did in the past month), here's a photo of us in our winter-classroom. (for some reason, BTC is always freezing cold and I wore as many layers as I did in Bristol).

Always.

Despite being 4 days away from the exams, I've been watching this video over and over again, and I can't seem to get enough of it.

This is possibly one of the best songs ever written and performed by the most talented band in the world.

I wanna go back in time, to the most amazing concert ever.

Why the hell did i choose to listen to the stupid concert ticket that said 'no cameras allowed'.

It's that time of the year again

Christmas lights are up!

It's that time of the year again.

But first, it's another 12 days of hell.

First Encounter with an Owl

Look what my grandfather found in his room the other day. And here I thought owls were only found in enchanted forests and harry-potter-like stories.

I wish I were a superhero with super efficiency.

Work load is killing me. It's that time of the year again.

I'm going to be disappearing for a while now - for a 12,000 word tax research paper and 2 exams in the next 3 weeks.

Madness. How did I leave everything so late?

I'm going to be camping in school till the 26th.

Bye for now, and see you for the holidays.

Redecorating

Redecorating is a tideous task, and furniture shopping is no means less easy -- fun though, if you have the time to spare.

FINALLY purchased a new bed, new mattress, new pillows, new quilt and new bed sheets!

On another note, I know Gossip Girl is known for it's gorgeous clothes but did anyone ever notice the interior design as well?

Bug

The Bug that was in my room the ENTIRE night

The picture is supposed to be rotated the other way round, but I was sooo proud of myself for trapping the Bug for a whole night between my SKII Miracle water and my Tommy Girl and Saphora Make-up Remover.

DCF Weekend

The B&F/DCF weekend is Finally over. Surprisingly, despite the 15-hour workdays, I found it rather fun. I'm seriously thinking I'm in the wrong profession right now.

A few snapshots from our DCF weekend:

At Mig's:

The people who saw our whiteboard: "what are you guys doing? Building an atomic bomb?"
(you have to realise that a reason why most of the people in law school choose to do law is because they have a phobia for numbers".

Our Post-B&F Celebrations

Seriously, you guys were the best people to work with. We make a great team. You guys made me realise that if a bunch of people with a lack of mathematical skills (and A level math) can decipher a finance formula in such a short period of time, we can pretty much do anything.

Love you all! =)

broken bed

My bed broke. And now I have to sleep on the floor, with the broken bed next to me.

How do I get rid of a broken bed?

teenage angst

The teenage angst is back.

and I'm absolutely hating my life right now.

boredom

I've been incredibly bored -- with life in general. The feeling of emptiness is back. And, a lack of meaning in life. These days, the most dreadful thing is waking up in the mornings. Sounds all to familiar to me. I have problems waking up at even 12 in the afternoon and the day seems to pass by so quickly, with nothing accomplished -- it's one thing to be non-productive, and another not to derive any satisfaction out of the non-productivity of the day (if it makes any sense at all). And it gets worse when the work load is piling up, deadlines are drawing near, and the exams are round the (not too big) corner.

I need something to look forward to when I wake up everyday.

the sweet escape

This happened quite sometime back, but it is probably the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me.

After coming back from the UK, I've been wanting to take a little break from the city, and escape to a beach resort for a weekend. We tried planning a trip to Malaysia (that failed), to Bintan (but it was fully booked for the entire weekend! every single decently priced hotel. can you believe it!), and to Sentosa (all of which never happened). And then, school started.

So, for our 3rd year anniversary, the clever boy decided to surprise me with a sweet escape to our island of fun! It was two days and one night of total bliss, serenity, and the sea. The sweetest thing was how he planned the sweet getaway just when I needed it the most, and actually thought of bringing all my favourites!

We stayed at the Siloso Beach Resort that was absolutely lovely. We got the garden suite that had a four pillar bed (my favourite!) and a roof top terrace that came with an outdoor jacuzzi overlooking the sea, an outdoor shower, and two comfy deckchairs -- where we spent the afternoon munching on brie and sipping lots and lots of Moscato (my new-found summer love!).  Mig fell in love with the roof top terrace the moment he saw it -- I swear it's his dream home.

The poolside was absolutely amazing and the entire place was the perfect sync between a holiday resort/hotel and a home. It was quiet, very private, yet cosy and peaceful all at the same time. And, it made Mig's eyes light up -- because it had a slide!

Then, it was dinner at Barnacles overlooking the sunset. The food was delicious and the view was picture perfect. They even had those bands that go round the tables playing songs specially for you. Although we were in still Singapore, it definitely felt like a very very sweet escape.

The next day, we decided to make full use of our day in Sentosa and check out the Underwater World! Neither of us had been there since we were kids so it was good fun! My favourite, though, was the Dolphin Lagoon where I instantly fell in love with those wonderful creatures. Watching them gliding around in the water and flapping their flippers makes you really want to kill all those oil tankers out at sea that are polluting the waters and killing all the dolphins.

I swear, my heart melted when they started playing When I look into your eyes and these babies were out there playing in the water with the lucky volunteer who got to go into the water with them. I soo wanted to volunteer myself, but they only picked the guys because your entire body would get wet and plus, and I figured they wouldn't choose me anyway because I was wearing a dress. So, instead, I spent a good 15 bucks to take a photo with the two most amazing creatures in the world.

I rode a bike today.

A friend was kind enough to take me out for a spin/lunch on his motorbike and it was a rather thrilling experience. I don't think I make a very good passenger -- I kept screaming "slow down!", "stop cutting in between cars!" and "ahhhhHH!". The wind kept blowing into my eyes, that made my contacts really really dry, and I was so afraid I would somehow topple the bike over, or a car would hit us and we did not have any metal as protection.

But, the road looks very different on a bike, than it normally does from inside a car. 'Living on the edge' (as he calls it). Strangely, you see things from a different point of view.

the best parenting book

Here's a thought -- the best parenting book you can ever hope to find, is one that is written by yourself. Write down all the things you were unhappy about when you were growing up, things your parents did that you absolutely hated, and when you're a parent, pick it up, read it, and try remember what it was like being young.

"toy dogs are useless creatures"

While in the car with Jared and Drea, Jared suddenly made a very interesting observation. He said that "toy dogs are the most useless creatures in the world". Toy dogs play no role in the entire eco-system, are absent from the food chain, and exist today mainly as a form of entertainment for human beings. If a particular toy dog, like a maltese, beagle, or a poodle were to go extinct, will it affect the world at all? (other than depriving humans of a cute pet).

facebook

Is it just me? Or is everyone else lovin' the new facebook? Cuz I think it's absolutely terrible. I've half a mind to abandon my facebook account. Been thinking about it after all the privacy issues, and now that it doesn't even look pretty/ is less user(dawn)-friendly anymore, I'm thinking of boycotting it altogether.

The only thing, is that it's a useful tool in keeping in touch with friends half way across the globe.

Will the old facebook layout come back?

why once you go white, you don't go back

I just learnt how to use my ipod touch about half an hour ago, downloaded all the applications, and I'm lovin' it! It's incredibly fun! It's no wonder why once you go white (mac), you never go back.

OoOhhhh I'm looking at the iphones now and imagine having all these on a phone instead! The functions are almost exactly the same as the ipod touch, plus the calling/sms-ing function (which are really pretty, btw!)

Does anyone know if starhub's gonna carry the iphone anytime soon?

Missing the Brizzle

I would get dressed, throw on a coat, put on my sunnies, walk through six doors, and then push open the final one and feel a gush of cold brush against my cheeks. Then, I would feel an innate sense of independence, joy, and  excitement as the wind continues messing up my intentionally uncombed hair.

I miss the cold, I miss the rain, and those sunny days around town. I miss the junction where we would part, my salmon-aglio-olio-pasta, and Sainsburys.

I do miss Bristol -- somewhat.

my damn cough

I'm still sick, and it's annoying the hell out of me.

I hate coughs, because it always seems to take forever to go away. I can't sleep, because I wake up in the night coughing, I get tired in the day (due to the lack of sleep at night), and I can't drink anything remotely refreshing (ie cold).

And it's not a pretty sight.  It's been 3 weeks, and counting.

Bollywood Cutting Edge!

I really meant to put this up sooner -- but I've just been swamped with work, and school, and have been partially sick.

Last weekend, I got to attend a very special Indian fashion show/Gala dinner-- Bollywood Cutting Edge -- organized by a family friend, all in the name of charity. The aim of the whole event was to raise funds for The Tanglin-Cairnhill Constituency Citizens' Consultative (CCC) Community Development and Welfare Fund. (Yes that was a mouthful).

Designers were flown in specially from India and Pakistan and the collection they displayed was amazing. On the line up were pieces by Maheen Khan, CUE by Rohit Gandhi & Rahul Khanna and Rina Dhaka.

I've always had a thing for Indian fashion  (during my Sec 4 prom, I was hunting furiously for an indian-western getup (something just like this!) but I was not too resourceful back then and ended up buying something from Daniel Yam instead) but the collection by Kavita Bhartia totally blew me away.

I especially liked her pieces because they were a mixture of Indian-meet-Western and as Nada says "something cultural yet modern at the same time". Also, she plays with colours and beads very well, creating a look that fuses tribal chic with royal opulence.

The young ones...

The adults...

The dress from Kavita Bhartia!
The best things about it is that it fits both Mum and I!

(most photos taken from Nat Bala / Mae Yen because their photo taking skills + camera are much better than mine!)

[side note: The objective of the Tanglin-Cairnhill CCC Community Development and Welfare Fund is for charitable purposes, specifically to provide relief for the poor and needy, advancement of education, welfare and programmes for the promotion of social cohesion and any other charitable purposes which help and benefit the community. If anyone is interested in purchasing the clothes for Charity or making any donations, please let me know and I'll get you in touch with the organizers.]

my age

I was at a dinner party last weekend and someone asked me how old I was. It took me a good 5 seconds to think and reply "I'm 22".

Even then, I was not sure.

First day of school

School's starting tomorrow.

There was once, a long long time ago, when I really didn't want the holidays to end. It was the best holiday I ever had. I dreaded the idea of going to school the next day, and the thought of the next long holiday seemed (at that point in time) like forever-more. So, the night before the first day of school, I hid under my blanket, thought of all the good times, and cried.

Summer Nights

There's really nothing much to do at nights.

I've absolutely lovin' my holidays. This is probably one of the best summers I've had in a long time -- two of my best girlies are back for the longest in years, my two best and longest friends were here for a good whole week, and kenny came all the way from KL to visit for more than a week! It was MAD MAD fun. Only thing is that we're running out of things to do at night.
When I came back, it was drinking every day for a good two and a half weeks straight. Good times were spent at wine co drinkng ourselves silly with the lychee wine (I still cannot remember the name), having cans and cans of beers while playing poker, and going absolutely nuts for THM's birthday. Then, we fell in love with Two Hands Moscato from Denise and that was our poison of choice. This week, we've decided to tone down the drinking, and instead, we've been to arab street for shisha 3 times in the past 5 days.

I'm really lovin' the holidays. Please don't let school start so soon.

oreo cheesecake

People (my friends) have been complaining about my stagnant blog.

Well, a really really long time ago, I set up diaryland as a form of catharsis. I had no problems thinking of things to write, and in fact, I relied on it quite a bit. It helped me to vent out whatever feelings I had, and because blogs weren't such a common thing back then, I didn't really have to worry about random people judging my inner most feelings.

These days, I seem to be struggling to fill the pages. Maybe it's because I'm happier (or at least I'm no longer an angry teenager), thus no longer the need for frequent catharsis, or maybe it's because I'm very reluctant to share my personal feelings in a very public forum. Instead, I now write because I believe it's the most effective way of keeping in touch with my friends overseas, especially with us all being in different countries. I admit to stalking my friends' blogs sometimes, because it makes me feel like I still know what's going on with their lives, even if we do not talk on a frequent basis. I know my (best of) friends do the same.

So, because I have absolutely nothing particularly interesting to talk about tonight, I leave you with a picture of what I did today -- I baked a cake. (an oreo cheesecake).

halloOoo world!

Finally, after a good 7 years, I've decided to abandon diaryland for blogspot! *clap clap*
Thanks to Miss ATZM, I'm in lurvee with the new layout. In exchange for her hard work, I've promised her I'll start blogging again.
So, watch out for this space (it's not totally completed yet), and look out for some exciting times ahead!
