the sweet escape

This happened quite sometime back, but it is probably the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me.

After coming back from the UK, I've been wanting to take a little break from the city, and escape to a beach resort for a weekend. We tried planning a trip to Malaysia (that failed), to Bintan (but it was fully booked for the entire weekend! every single decently priced hotel. can you believe it!), and to Sentosa (all of which never happened). And then, school started.

So, for our 3rd year anniversary, the clever boy decided to surprise me with a sweet escape to our island of fun! It was two days and one night of total bliss, serenity, and the sea. The sweetest thing was how he planned the sweet getaway just when I needed it the most, and actually thought of bringing all my favourites!

We stayed at the Siloso Beach Resort that was absolutely lovely. We got the garden suite that had a four pillar bed (my favourite!) and a roof top terrace that came with an outdoor jacuzzi overlooking the sea, an outdoor shower, and two comfy deckchairs -- where we spent the afternoon munching on brie and sipping lots and lots of Moscato (my new-found summer love!).  Mig fell in love with the roof top terrace the moment he saw it -- I swear it's his dream home.

The poolside was absolutely amazing and the entire place was the perfect sync between a holiday resort/hotel and a home. It was quiet, very private, yet cosy and peaceful all at the same time. And, it made Mig's eyes light up -- because it had a slide!

Then, it was dinner at Barnacles overlooking the sunset. The food was delicious and the view was picture perfect. They even had those bands that go round the tables playing songs specially for you. Although we were in still Singapore, it definitely felt like a very very sweet escape.

The next day, we decided to make full use of our day in Sentosa and check out the Underwater World! Neither of us had been there since we were kids so it was good fun! My favourite, though, was the Dolphin Lagoon where I instantly fell in love with those wonderful creatures. Watching them gliding around in the water and flapping their flippers makes you really want to kill all those oil tankers out at sea that are polluting the waters and killing all the dolphins.

I swear, my heart melted when they started playing When I look into your eyes and these babies were out there playing in the water with the lucky volunteer who got to go into the water with them. I soo wanted to volunteer myself, but they only picked the guys because your entire body would get wet and plus, and I figured they wouldn't choose me anyway because I was wearing a dress. So, instead, I spent a good 15 bucks to take a photo with the two most amazing creatures in the world.
